Community Collaborations
More than 6,000 people engage with The Huntington’s collections each year through active community collaborations with organizations in Los Angeles and the surrounding area. At The Huntington, we see community engagement as a critical way to build a more inclusive cultural institution.

Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA)
HOLA provides underserved youth with free, exceptional programs in academics, arts, and athletics within a nurturing environment, empowering them to develop their potential, pursue their education, and strengthen their communities. HOLA’s staff are teaching artists who have attended pedagogical retreats at The Huntington. The Huntington also supports HOLA’s visual arts curriculum, which has included workshops with artists Mario Ybarra Jr. and Carolina Caycedo (a /five collaboration). The Huntington’s botanical gardens were the inspiration for HOLA’s 2020 student art show.

Pablove Foundation
Founded in 2008, the Pablove Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of children living with cancer through the arts. The foundation also funds pediatric cancer research. In 2017, it piloted the advanced photography program Shutterbugs at The Huntington. This program is designed to help teenagers develop their creative voice through photography, with The Huntington’s botanical and arts collections serving as inspiration for their work. The Huntington supports Pablove’s Shutterbugs and Fundamental of Photography programs, hosting the end-of-program graduation celebrations and showcasing Pablove photographers’ work in the Mapel Orientation Gallery. Most recently, Pablove photography was part of The Huntington’s Funtington program.
