Now Blooming: Roses

The Huntington’s 3-acre rose collection contains more than 2,500 individual plants and over 1,300 cultivated varieties. More than a beautiful destination to stroll and admire, the Rose Garden represents an extensive collection enjoyed by thousands of visitors each year. The spring bloom begins in mid-April and extends beyond Thanksgiving, thanks to Southern California’s mild climate.

The Rose Garden was originally created in 1908 for the private enjoyment of founders Henry E. and Arabella Huntington. It was designed primarily for display, providing copious quantities of cut blooms for the large floral arrangements favored in the Huntingtons’ home.
